Là où tout a commencé / Where it all started
Christian Robin et Daniel Damphousse sont devenus de bons amis lorsqu'ils se sont présentés et officiellement élus au conseil d'administration du Festival du Voyageur en 2005. Les deux ont siégé au conseil exécutif de 2006 à 2008, tandis que Daniel a fini en occupant le poste de président de 2009 à 2011.Quelques années plus tard, lorsque Chris et Dan sont devenus des voisins immédiats, ils ont discuté des idées pour s'impliquer à nouveau dans leur festival canadien préféré. Ces discussions ont abouti au lancement du tout nouveau Relais. La première année (2016, au Heather Curling Club) comprenait une seule nuit : le premier dimanche soir pendant le Festival. Cette nuit est maintenant devenue soirée hommage au fameux bar Le Canot !
Christian Robin and Daniel Damphousse became good friends when they ran for, and were officially elected to, the Festival du Voyageur Board of Directors in 2005. Both served on the Executive Committee from 2006 to 2008, and Daniel went on to serve as President from 2009 to 2011.
A few years later, when Chris and Dan became next-door neighbours, they started talking about ways to get involved again in their favourite Canadian festival. Those conversations led to the launch of the brand-new Relais. The first year (2016, at the Heather Curling Club) featured just one night: the first Sunday evening during the Festival. That night has now become a tribute evening to the legendary Le Canot bar!
La relève / Moving Forward
Commanditant les événements d'un endroit à l'autre, Nicholas Douklias a finalement rejoint l'équipe et est devenu le «responsable des relations communautaires» officiel, ou comme il préfère l'appeler,
le «professionnel du schmoozing». En 2025, lorsque les fondateurs originaux ont voulu passer à autre chose, Nicholas a proposé de prendre la relève du Relais tant apprécié et de poursuivre l'héritage que Christian et Dan avaient commencé.
Sponsoring the events from venue to venue, Nicholas Douklias eventually joined the team and became the official “Community Liason Officer”, or as he prefers to call it, the “professional schmoozer.” In 2025, when the original founders decided it was time to move on, Nicholas offered to take over the much loved Relais and carry forward the legacy Christian and Dan had started.
